December 18, 1939 – October 15, 2024
Denis Boyd Christopherson Sr, 84, passed away at home Tuesday evening, October 15, 2024. The son of Boyd Elmer and Sylvia Lenora (Evans) Christopherson was born on December 18, 1939, in Minneapolis.
Denis grew up on the family farm in Elk Mound, Wisconsin and graduated from Elk Mound Public High School. He attended UW-Eau Claire and UW-Madison before finishing school to become a Broadcast Engineer in Washington DC.
On August 22, 1964, Denis married Sue Ellen Thoman in Milwaukee. Together they raised three children, Denis Jr., Craig and Debra.
Denis worked for many radio and television stations throughout the years, bartended part time and volunteered as a Jaycee. He retired in 2003.
Denis was an avid amateur radio operator for over 50 years and a lifetime member of the QCWA. He proudly displayed his call letters K9JIG. He was an active supporter of the West De Pere choir, band and athletic programs, with the football team knowing him as "Grandpa Denny".
He was a man of few words, but loved his family and friends wholeheartedly.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sue; children, Denis Jr. (Karen), Craig, and Debra Pasterski; grandchildren, Nathan Christopherson (Natalie Williamson), Mary Christopherson, Evan Christopherson, Olivia Christopherson, Colin Pasterski (Derek Siegel), Tyler Pasterski (Katy Mclaughlin), Morgan Pasterski (Zak Rogness).
Denis was preceded in death by his parents, Boyd and Sylvia; siblings, Daniel and David.
Family and friends may visit at Ryan Funeral Home, 305 N. Tenth Street, De Pere beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2024. A sharing of stories will conclude the visitation time at 5:00 p.m. Private family burial will take place at Barum Cemetery in the Town of Elk Mound, Wisconsin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Happily Ever After Animal Sanctuary.
