Denise C. Wenner, 83, Green Bay, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2018. She was born February 16, 1935 in Brooklyn, NY to James and Elizabeth (Scherer) Burke. On August 13, 1983 Denise married Ray Wenner in Clearwater, FL.
After graduating from Duke University, the University of South Florida, and Nova University, with her bachelors and masters degree, Denise became a teacher in the state of Florida. In her free time she enjoyed reading, swimming, and spending time with her husband, Ray. Denise was also a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish.
Denise is survived by her husband Ray Wenner; children: Rebecca Brown, David Brown, and Robin Brown; her grandchildren: Elizabeth (Ryan Ver Hey) Reiser, Alexandra Bishop, and Averi Seelig; her great grandson Matthew H. Ver Hey; her brother-in-law Edward Bruns; and sister-in-law Patricia Burke. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Elizabeth Burke, and her siblings: Patricia Bruns and Ronald Burke.
Denise was a highly respected high school English teacher in Florida, first at Northside Christian School and then as department head at Shorecrest Prepatory School. Then during the 80s, she and Ray moved to South Florida and taught in the Broward County school system for ten years before retiring together to Crivitz, Wi.
It was a second marriage for both Ray and Dee and became a "dream come true love story" for 34 years. Together they traveled several times to Europe, and particularly loved their trips to Garmische, Germany
Mass of Christian Burial for Denise will be at 10:30 AM Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, 1305 Lourdes Ave, De Pere. There will be no visitation prior to Mass.
