Dolores Cottrell, 91, peacefully passed away on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at her home. She was born November 23, 1929 to the late Martin and Ethel Janssen. She grew up in the city of West De Pere and then met the love of her life, Clyde Cottrell, from Oneida. On December 24, 1950, they married in the parsonage of the Oneida Methodist Church while he was on leave from the service. They happily shared 54 years of marriage, until Clyde's death on October 2, 2005.
Dolores spent the majority of her work life in the restaurant industry. Her first waitressing job was at the Ferris Wheel in West De Pere, where she worked many years. Her dream of running her own restaurant happened in 1982 when her and Clyde began the Main Street Restaurant, the former Ferris Wheel. She considered many of her customers her friends. Her love of clowns had resulted in a collection of hundreds that were all brought in from customers over the 18 years she had the restaurant.
Family and faith were the most important to Dolores. She enjoyed gatherings with family where there was plenty of laughter, and it would never be complete without a game of poker or cribbage. Her love of God was shown through her devotion to our church where she was an important part of the Women's Group, worked generously for the annual suppers, taught Sunday School, and much more.
Whether it was family, work, or church, Dolores had friendships that lasted a lifetime. She was the most caring and generous person who always put others before herself. Her love for her children will continue to carry on in their lives and she will be deeply missed.
Dolores is survived by her daughter, Pam (Dennis); her three sons, Gary, Steve, and Craig (Christine). Five grandchildren, Joshua (Cathy), Jeremiah (Ben), Courtney (Josh), Christopher (Anna), and Hannah (Josh). One great-granddaughter, Trinity and one great-grandson, Oliver. She is further survived by her sister Carol Winkler, two sisters-in-laws, Joyce Cottrell and Nona Cottrell. Many nieces, nephews and friends further survive. She was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.
