IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donald Edwin
Treptow
April 29, 1936 – March 11, 2023
Donald Edwin "Don" Treptow, 86, Wrightstown, was called to his Eternal Home on March 11, 2023. Don was born on April 29, 1936, to the late Arthur W. and Minnie M. (Roeder) Treptow in Coleman, WI. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Town of Grover, WI. He grew up on a farm with a sister and two brothers.
Don graduated from Lena High School in the class of 1954 and was very active in sports. He graduated from UW-Platteville in 1958 with a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture and Biology Sciences and Driver's Education. A Master's Degree was later earned by taking summer courses in Technology Education through UW-Stout in 1966. Don took additional courses and earned various credits beyond his master's program though UW-Green Bay, NWTC, Briggs & Straton in the Grafton/Milwaukee area, the University of Chicago, International Falls and Bemidji State University, and UW-Platteville.
He also served as Treasure N.E.W. Tech Ed. Teachers and was their Representative of the Wisconsin State Technology Association and State Conventions Representative.
His career included teaching high school agriculture and biology for five years in Wausaukee, WI. After that, he moved down to Wrightstown to take the position in technology education, where he would stay for 33 interesting years. Many fine students' lives were greatly touched during his 38 dedicated years of teaching.
Don was an accomplished carpenter, cabinetmaker, electrician, mason, and crafted many beautiful wood furniture sets that are now family heirlooms. He enjoyed building his family's cabin and the other outer buildings on their hunting land in Porterfield, WI. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, polka music, sports, and the outdoors. However, what Don loved most of all was his family.
Don married the "love of his life" Carroll Jean (Behrend) Treptow. They married in Crivitz, WI at Grace Lutheran Church on November 14, 1959. Together, they enjoyed 63 years of his wife's cooking, but more importantly, wedded bliss, in which they were blessed with two wonderful sons, David and Bruce.
He was strong in faith and served on the church council in various positions such as president, trustee, treasurer, and financial secretary for over 30 years; since his membership in 1963. Faith in God sustained him through his courageous battle with prostate and bladder cancer and hip and knee replacements.
Survivors include his lovely wife of 63 years, Carroll Treptow, son Bruce Treptow and grandson Isaiah Treptow, sister-in-law Janet (Darryl) Polzin, nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his son David "Davey-Boy" Treptow in 2021, his parents Arthur and Minnie Treptow, father and mother-in-law Edwin and Gladys Behrend, brother and sister-in-law Ken A. (Shirley) Treptow, brother and sister-in-law Roland H. (Carolyn) Treptow, and sister and brother-in-law Bernita (Clarence) Polzin.
