Obituary

Donald began his journey home to the creator on October 8, 2025, while peacefully surrounded by his loving family at home.

He was born in Chicago, Illinois, but maintained a strong connection to Oneida, where he spent every summer. This annual tradition helped him develop deep roots in the community, shaping his identity and lifelong commitment to service.

After graduating from high school, Donald joined the Army and dedicated two years to serving in Germany. Upon returning to the United States, he pursued higher education and earned his master's degree in education.

Donald devoted his career to improving education and opportunities for Native Americans. He worked in several Native American programs, including the Bureau of Indian Affairs in New Mexico. He also served as principal for the Oneida Nation Schools and held leadership positions as director of the Chicago American Indian Business Association and the Chicago Board of Education. Donald was deeply committed to providing quality education for Native American Students, and he played an instrumental role in developing a Native American Magnet School in Chicago. This school was designed both to serve Native students and to increase awareness of Native American contributions among all students.

Later in his career, Donald returned to Oneida, where he worked as director of Government Services until his retirement. After retirement, he served as a member of ONCOA board. Donald was passionate about being of service to his community, working in various positions in the Oneida Tribe. His lifelong dedication to education and community service left a lasting impact on both the Oneida and Chicago communities.

He is survived by his wife, Eunice of 32 years and his children Conan (Laura) and Gentri, stepdaughters, Jessamyn (Anthony), Corinne (Josh), and Sarah (Steve), and siblings Myron "Poncho", Charlotte "Chita", and Patrick.

He was preceded in death by his parents George and Mabel White, his brothers; Eugene "Geno", Rosario "Chummy", and Gerald.
