Donna Mae Maertz, 80, of Rutherfordton, NC, passed peacefully on Monday, May 28th, 2018, after a short illness. Donna was born August 24, 1937 in De Pere, Wisconsin to the late Elwin "Red" and Vivian "Toots" (Strenn) Cavil. Donna graduated from De Pere High School in 1955. Donna was wed to Milton "Mitty" Maertz August 1st, 1964 and had two sons, Scott and Lee. Donna and Milton lived on the family farm in Reedsville until Milton's passing in 1994. She also lived in Mason Manor in Green Bay. Donna enjoyed quilting, sewing, crafts, drawing and painting. She also enjoyed playing board games, especially Wahoo! Donna also enjoyed working for a time at Encompass Child Care as a foster grandmother. She is survived by her son Lee (Sherry), daughter-in-law Sharon, her brother Lawrence (Phyllis) Cavil, grandchildren Courtney, Jessica, Zachary and Jasmine, and many cousins and nieces and nephews. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Elwin and Vivian, her husband Milton, her son Scott, and her brother Richard (Sara) Cavil. Family and friends may visit at Ryan Funeral Home, 305 N. Tenth Street, De Pere, beginning at 4:00 PM on Sunday, June 3, 2018. A prayer service will close the evening at 7:00 PM. Donna will be interred at Nicolet Memorial Gardens. The family wishes to thank Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Forest City, NC for their gentle loving care in Donna's final days, as well Padgett & King Mortuary in Forest City, NC for their care in the family's time of need.
