Doris R. Zacharek, 96, resident of Green Bay, passed away at a local nursing home on Wednesday morning, December 24th. She was born on October 19, 1912 to the late Caroline and Herman Seefeld in New London, WI. Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Stephen M. Zacharek.
Doris's hobby and greatest love was spending time with her family. She was a very special lady, and touched the lives of everybody she met, never expecting anything from others. She has left behind many precious memories for her family from all the occasions they celebrated throughout the years. Doris had a very special bond with her daughter Rose and granddaughters, Holly & Tammy, by playing a very large part throughout their entire lives. In the last three years, Doris has enjoyed time singing and making up stories with her great-granddaughter, Sophia.
Doris was very independent, yet always there when anyone needed her. She had a strong faith in God and was a long time member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Green Bay. Although this is a difficult time for her family, her deteriorating health and loss of independence prepared her for God to welcome her home and be reunited with her loved ones.
Survivors include; one daughter Rose Mary Ferris (special friend Gary), Venice, FL, her granddaughter's Holly (Dwayne) Jennings and Tammy (Tony) Teebo, her great-granddaughter Sophia Teebo, her sister Sylvia Kirk, a special niece Dolores Bigalke and other nieces and nephews.
As well as her family, she will be sadly missed by the friends she has made in Florida the past several years, while visiting her daughter, Rose Mary.
Her sister Erna Lewin also preceded her in death.
Friends may call after 11am Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at Nicolet Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum 2770 Bay Settlement Road until the service at 1pm with Pastor David Hatch officiating.
