Dorothy Thomson 99, De Pere, passed away peacefully on Saturday July 28, 2018. She was born November 10, 1918 in Ashwaubenon to the late Peter and Hattie (Linders) Smits. On June 22, 1940 she married Joe Thomson at St. Boniface Catholic Church, De Pere. Dorothy and Joe started Thomson Meats in 1952, and together they built a successful business, eventually passing it on to the next generation. Dorothy was a devout and longtime member of St. Boniface/Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, De Pere. She was a member of the Christian Mothers, volunteered serving at funeral lunches, belonged to the Happy Hearts Homemakers Club, and was an avid card player. Dorothy also enjoyed the Packers and Brewers, but it was the time spent with her family that she looked forward to the most.
She is survived by her children; Tom (Kay) Thomson, Dick (Julie) Thomson, Joy Nowak, Julie (Mike) Willems, Jeff Thomson, Marty (Di) Thomson, as well as 19 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren. Dorothy is further survived by her sisters; Della (Gene) Spreeman, and Verna Mae Parins, as well as her sisters-in-law; Jean Smits, Vi Smits, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joe in 1999, her son-in-law Howie Nowak, daughter-in-law Nancy Thomson, great granddaughter Gabriel , as well as siblings; Norma (John) Minten, Roman (Gen) Smits, Raymond (Lorraine) Smits, Lloyd Smits, infant brother, Clarence Smits, and members of Joe's family.
Friends may call at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church from 4:00PM – 7:00PM Thursday August 2, 2018. Visitation will continue after 9:00AM Friday at the church, until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30AM.
