Dustin Jon Marrick, affectionately known as Dusty, was born to Alice Lasecki Marrick and John W Marrick in Green Bay, WI, on November 28, 1970. He grew up in West De Pere and was fiercely proud of his hometown.

Dusty brought laughter and warmth to the lives he touched until his sudden and unexpected passing on April 14, 2024. He lived life on his terms, embracing every moment with an exuberance that was contagious.

Known for his obstreperous (his favorite description of himself) personality and genuine kindness and generosity Dusty had a gift for making people laugh and feel at ease. He would also poke at a grumpy person until he could get a cheerful response. That scene with Rose in the grocery store in the film "You've Got Mail" is a great example of how he liked to be a peacemaker. His generous spirit and love for humanity were evident in every interaction he had. He was a protector. He was a hero to some. He protected people without a thought for his own safety and had scars to prove it.

Dusty was LOUD. He filled all the space around him with his large presence. He would ask now if this comment were meant to be a "fat joke" because he could find humor in almost everything and self-deprecating humor was one of his trademarks. But he was just so present everywhere he went. He was loud. You always knew where he was. I never asked, but I assume that he wasn't good at hide-and-seek.

Dusty was a relentless raconteur. With his gift for storytelling and jokes, he enlivened every gathering, weaving together anecdotes and adventures with wit and charm. In short, if you ever met him, he's told you a story and probably a joke or two or five or a thousand.

Dusty found joy in the camaraderie of sports and the thrill of competition. He loved golfing and hanging out with his brother-in-law and friend Lloyd Chaffey. He loved bowling and was very proud of his 300 ring. An avid pool player, he led many teams in pool leagues to first place throughout the years. Everything he did, he did with all he was and all he had. He threw himself into anything he attempted. He was determined to the point of stubbornness.

As a truck driver, he traveled the country with a sense of adventure, fueled by his passion for travel and exploration. He loved telling about his adventures on the road.  Dustin loved to treat people as family. He wanted everyone to be happy and healthy. He wanted everyone to feel seen and be loved, if not exactly heard over his talking. He enjoyed giving gifts. He loved sharing food. He would often bring presents of food to people. He often bought rounds at the bar.

Above all, Dusty cherished his family. He was especially close to his mother, Alice, whose love and support meant the world to him. Dusty is survived by his devoted wife Heather (also known as Irene) Marrick, his loving mother Alice and his parents-in-law Lloyd and Barbara Chaffey, his beloved stepdaughters and their families: Beth (Ryan) McGregor, Suzanne Johnke, and Leah (Gary) Feather, by his grandchildren, Rylee, Zoe, and Connor McGregor, Gavin Johnke-Jacquet, Kiaya Feather, and Azlyn Robinson, his siblings-in-law, Lloyd & Maricela Chaffey, Tim & Casey Chaffey, Holly & Nate Van Zeeland, Becky & John Mackowicz, his brother Marty (Sara) Marrick, nieces and nephews: Amanda (Ivette) Chaffey, Lloyd Chaffey, Kayla (Otto) Neff, Judah Chaffey, Alex, Maddie, and Owen Van Zeeland, Kevin Marrick, Theresa and Vera Mackowicz; and many more aunts and uncles and cousins.

He was particularly close to his aunts and uncles Roger and Betty DeGrave, Norb and Denise DeBeukelar, and Denis (Cindy) Lasecki. Dusty also leaves behind his beloved dogs Bear, Lucy, and Trooper.

Dusty is preceded in death by his father, John Marrick, and Alice's significant other Jesse Urena.

Though Dusty's sudden departure has left a void in the lives of those who knew him, his laughter, kindness, and zest for life will be remembered.
