Obituary

Edna R. Hibbard, 89, of De Pere passed away Monday morning January 11, 2010. She was born February 13, 1920 to the late Howard and Bertha (Gust) Coon. She was united in marriage to Stanley Hibbard on October 17, 1938 in Muscatine, Iowa. Edna lived in the Town of Rockland for many years before moving to De Pere. Edna had been an active member of St. Anne Episcopal Church in De Pere where she was President of the Altar Guild as well as Diocesan President of the Altar Guild. Edna was an extremely active woman, having been a 4-H leader in Rockland, a cook at Wrightstown High School for 9 years, and a member of the Brown County Extension Homemakers since 1941, where she served as president in 1960 and 1961. Edna loved to cook, golf, and play cribbage, dominoes, and bingo. She had written two cook books, and was a Cateress for over 45 years, including 6 years at Ivan's Deli. She started the dining room at Mid-Valley Golf Course, and had cooked at Arthur Norgaards. She taught at NWTC for many years, as well as De Pere High School for 5 years, and West De Pere High School for 1 year. She enjoyed playing Mrs. Claus at the White Pillars Museum, and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her children: Bob (Rose Marie) Hibbard, Wrightstown, Yvonne "Bonnie" (Tom) Hanaway, Knoxville TN, Dennis Hibbard, Gresham, Kate Lynn "Kathy" (Jan Arleth) Hibbard, St. Paul MN. Seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, her foster child Marion VandeVoort, her special niece Karen Hintermeister, and godchild Sandra VandeHey further survive her. Edna was preceded in death by her husband Stanley, her brother Howard Coon, and sister Esther (Robert) Stohr. Friends may call at the RYAN FUNERAL HOME 305 N. Tenth De Pere from 9 11am Friday. The funeral service will follow at 11am with Fr. Wilson Roane and Deacon Art Good officiating. Burial will take place next to her husband at Woodlawn Cemetery.
