Obituary

Elmer (EJ) Schouten, passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 from complications of Parkinson Disease. He entered with complete peace into the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ- whom he had received as his savior October 6, 1949. Elmer was born November 22, 1927, the last of six children to Raymond and Wilhelmina Schouten in Waupun, WI. Elmer joined the Army in 1947. He served in Korea in the Signal Corp and upon coming home served in the National Guard. On Sept. 1, 1950 he married Naomi Hansen. They had three children, eight grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren- all loved and adored. Elmer and Naomi were married for 67 years. Elmer was employed in his early years as a welder at Northwest Engineering- 14 years, then a semi-driver for 45 years- never had an accident. Elmer loved to hunt, especially out west. He also liked traveling very much and was known to share his faith with everyone everywhere. He maintained a beautiful yard full of flowers as long as his strength allowed him. Elmer is survived by his wife Naomi; daughter Lynda; sons Marlin and Kevin (Jessica); "favorite adopted daughter" Pat Arriens; grandchildren: Dana (Aaron Kolste), Tristan (Jamie Smies), Megan (Micah Roberts), Tandis (Shawan Dzwonkowski), Sonja (Jeremy Bassett); Bradley (Natalie Fritzinger), Margo (Jonathan Hesketh), and Kiersten (Sam Morell); and great grandchildren. He is further survived by his sister and four brothers. Family and friends may visit from 9:00 to 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at New Hope Orthodox Presbyterian Church, 2401 Deckner Ave, Green Bay. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM with Pastor James Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in Ft. Howard Cemetery. Please visit www.ryanfh.com to send a condolence to Elmer's family.
