Eugene Silas, 79 of Milwaukee, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2013. The son of Dewey and Gertrude Silas was born on September 24, 1933 in Oneida. He attended the Boy's Technical High School in Milwaukee, while attending school Geno started to work for the A&P Grocery Chain and was employed as a Teamster for over 40 years until he retired. He played La Crosse with the Milwaukee Team, and they were the State Champions in 1948, 1949 and 1950. Geno also played baseball and basketball for the Milwaukee Indian community. Geno was an Eagle Dancer with the Consolidated Tribes. He was an avid golfer and bowler and enjoyed spending time with his golfing and bowling buddies. Geno is survived by his sons, Bruce Silas (Toni Vele), Daniel Silas, his daughter, Dawn Marie (Keith) Dunkelberger, grandchildren, Greg Dunkelberger, Kiefer Storm Silas, Erin Mickelson, and Meghan Schweitzer. Further surviving him are his four siblings, Catherine Lewandowski, Marlene Weisrock, Patricia Thompson, and Sandra (John) Risner. His wife Beverly's family also survives, Carol Elm, Judith Skenandore, Karen Powless, Eleanor John, John Hill and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Geno was preceded in death by his wife Beverly, son Scott, parents, Dewey and Gertrude Silas, his sisters, Verila Smith and Beatrice Hill, his brothers John Silas and Father Dewey Silas. The Oneida Hymn Singers will sing at 6:30pm followed by a parish prayer service at 7pm to bring the evening to a close. Visitation will continue on Monday at Holy Apostles Episcopal Church in Oneida after 9am, until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am with Fr.
