Obituary

Eugene "Gene" E. Spreeman, 89, De Pere, passed away peacefully at the age of 89 with his daughter at his bedside at St Vincent Hospital. Gene was born in Breed, WI. on May 10, 1932, to the late William and Mildred (Lemke) Spreeman. He proudly served his country in the US Army from 1952 - 1956 in Alaska. Gene enjoyed his cabins on and near Anderson Lake, supper clubs, playing cards, watching the Packers and Brewers and most of all helping friends and family in any way he could. His generosity and kindness were unequalled. He was employed by Nicolet Paper in De Pere, WI for over 25 years. Survivors include his daughter, Lynn (Nate) Jacobs, his wife Della (Thomson), stepdaughter Mary Jo (Bill) Diedrick, stepsons Peter (Luann) Thomson, Bob Thomson, his loving step grandchildren, and step great grandchildren; brothers, Verlyn Spreeman of Suring, and William J Spreeman of Breed; brother-in-law Roger (Elaine) Hendricks of Wrightstown; sisters-in-law, Bernice Fye, Shirley Hendricks, Mary (Ron) Timm of De Pere, close family friend Judi Thomson, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Elaine (Hendricks); brothers, Carlyle (Marie) Spreeman, Earl (Sally) Spreeman; sisters Althea (Floyd) Peters, Shirley (Eugene) Baeten, Elaine (Jack) Schmidt and Margaret (Levi) Mayer; brother-in-laws Cyril Hendricks, Ken Hendricks, and Vernon Fye. Sister-in-laws, Jean Spreeman, Beulah Spreeman, Lucille (Ken) Hendricks; nephews, Tom Hendricks, Allen Mayer, Steven Spreeman, Michael Spreeman and niece, Janice Bernetzke. Thank you for always reminding all of us to stay positive. Thank you for being the best father, friend, teacher, and mentor a person could have. Thank you for showing us what unconditional love really means. Thank you for hoisting your daughter up on your shoulders and keeping her there for 53 years. It was a blessing having you on this planet for 89 years. Ryan Funeral Home, De Pere is assisting the family. His family would like to thank Renaissance Assisted Living, Rennes Health & Rehab, and the staff of the St Vincent Hospital for providing compassionate care over the last years of his life. Due to Covid 19, a private Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family, De Pere with Fr. James Baraniak O. Praem. presiding. A celebration of Gene's life will take place in the spring of 2022.
