Eugene "Geno" Willems 78 of De Pere died on Sunday May 13, 2012 after a short illness. He was born December 29, 1933 to the late Arnold and Mary "Edith" Willems. On May 16, 1953 he married Beverly "Jean" Moudry. Geno and Jean ran Geno's Bar on Main Street in De Pere for six years. Geno also worked at Nicolet Paper Co. Local 6288 for 33 years. He retired from Tufco in 1997, and then helped out at the Batter's Box in Green Bay with his family. In February 2012 he moved to Abrams to help his son and daughter-in-law at The Flyway. He loved to play cards; you name the game and he'd play it. Geno also liked Pool and Bingo. Above all Geno enjoyed being with his family, especially watching his grandchildren's sporting events. He is survived by his children, Kip (Donna) Willems, Lynn (Tim) Keenan, and Jill (Fred) Litkey. His grandchildren, Kim, Laura (Chris), Jodi (Willie), Christa (Ben), Jessica, Ryan, Kurtis, Tony, Shane (Colleen), Renee (Marcus), Kerry (Kevin), Jason (Jamie), Joseph, and Holly (Steve). His great grandchildren, Quentin, Shaelyn, Gabe, Taylor, Aaron, Mariah, Andrew, Nolan, Davon, Paige, Gavin, Corrine, McKay, Serena, Brielle, Autumn, Ella, Riley, and Trisha. He is further survived by his twin brother Gerald (Shirley) Willems, and his brother Ken Willems. His brother-in-law Mike McCourt, and sister-in-law Mae Willems further survive, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Geno was preceded in death by his wife Jean, his daughter Jennie, his siblings, Dolores, Richard, Donald (Lil), and his sisters-in-law Helen Willems, and Joyce (Ed) Kaufman.
Friends may call at the RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 305 N. Tenth Street De Pere, from 4 8pm Wednesday, May 16th, with a parish prayer service at 7:30pm to bring the evening to a close. Visitation will continue after 10am Thursday at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church in Ashwaubenon. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am with Fr. John Harper officiating.
