Obituary

Mrs. Richard (Eunice) Brennan, 85, of De Pere, died early Wednesday morning, January 20, 2010 at a local hospital, surrounded by her six daughters. Eunice died from complications of congestive heart failure. The daughter of the late Leonard and Anna (Kleuskens) Berken was born July 27, 1924 in De Pere. She married Richard "Dick" Brennan at St. Boniface Catholic Church on August 24, 1946. He preceded her in death on February 3, 1999. Eunice was an active member of the community and was a volunteer and member of VFW Post 2113 Auxiliary. Eunice will be remembered by the voters of De Pere for her many years of tireless service to the City on voting day. She crocheted and donated nearly 3, 000 baby hats for Hess Memorial Hospital in Mauston, WI. She was an avid card player and enjoyed time spent at De Pere Community Center. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and treasured her time with her family and many friends. Eunice is survived by six daughters, Mary Brennan, Peggy (Gary) Van Pee, Barb (Joe) Hannon, Bonnie (Tom) Houlihan, Beth (Mickey) Crittenden, Brenda (Tracy) Peot, eighteen grandchildren, Debi Linssen, Carrie Marquis, Brad Ambrose, Amy Brick, Jason Van Pee, Jodi Elsing, Heather Hannon, Sarah Hannon, Cliff Hannon, Ara Crittenden, Geoff Crittenden, Ben Crittenden, Richard Crittenden, Jennifer Collette, Janie Collette, Spencer Peot, Carly Peot and Ryan Peot. Thirteen great-grandchildren, Karleigh Linssen, Melanie , Logan, Brady and Madison Marquis, Olivia and Delaney Ambrose, Emily and Megan Brick, Brennan Van Pee, Mitchell Elsing, Kaylee Guttu, Casen Hannon. She is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Anna Berken, three sisters, Blanche (Pat) Golden, Audrey (Jim) Chriske, and Joyce (Dick) Zegers. Friends may call at RYAN FUNERAL HOME 305 North Tenth Street, De Pere from 4:00 to 8:00 Friday January 22, 2010. Parish prayer service will be held at 4:00 pm Friday. Visitation will continue after 9:30 am Saturday at St. Mary Catholic Community on Pope John XXIII Circle off Sportsman Road, in the Town Of Ledgeview. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am Saturday at the church with Father Joel Sember, officiating. Burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
