Evelyn "Evie" Langlay, 83, died peacefully and went into the arms of our Lord late Tuesday evening, July 12, 2011. She joined her husband Cletus, who preceded her in death on July 7, 2009, and her grandson Paul, who died on July 7, 2000. Evelyn was born on March 17, 1928 the daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth Aland. On August 23, 1947, she married Cletus Langlay at St. Boniface Church in De Pere. Evelyn enjoyed staying at home taking care of her husband and four children. She made the best chili and lasagna but will be remembered by everyone for her creamy fudge balls, peanut butter cups and angel food candy. She loved being outdoors gardening or cutting the grass. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and dogs, and took many walks with them. She was a very caring person and had a smile which made her beautiful blue eyes sparkle. She will be missed by her family and many friends.
Survivors include her four children: Jan Dannhausen, Sturgeon Bay and Richard Dannhausen, Egg Harbor; Mary (Doug) Stewart, Pembine; Nancy (Tom) Gerondale, Green Bay; and Gerald (Judy) Langlay, Packwaukee. Grandchildren are Lisa Dannhausen, Sturgeon Bay; Tina Dannhausen, Los Angeles, CA; Tom (Angela) Dannhausen, Baileys Harbor; and god-daughter Anna Dannhausen, Chicago, IL, Michael Gerondale, Wrightstown, and Jim Schilawski, Appleton. Great-grandchildren Justin and Samara Bosman, and Owen Dannhausen; and good friend Esther Pierzchalski.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Cletus, grandson, Paul Stewart; sister, Irene Servais; and brothers, Francis and Clem Aland; many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
The family would like to thank Dr. Asma, Heartland Hospice (Anna for her consoling words), Fr. Mauthe, and the staff at Manor West Nursing Home where Evelyn lived and called home for the past eight years. Evie brought smiles to their faces and joy in their hearts. Even though she had Alzheimer's, she knew that they loved and cared for her with respect and dignity. Evie was blessed to have Joey (her guardian angel) as her room-mate for the last few months of her life. Joey was devoted to taking care of "grandma" when the family couldn't be there.
The family will receive relatives and friends at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 305 N. Tenth Street De Pere from 12pm until time of service at 1pm on Sunday, July 24, 2011, with Fr. Tim Shillcox O. Praem officiating. Please go to www.ryanfh.com to send online condolences to the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association Greater WI Chapter.
