Floyd "Skipper" Schuman, 64, of Oneida, died Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at University Hospital in Madison, following a long, courageous battle with lung disease. The son of the late John and Beatrice (Ritchie) Schuman, Sr. was born in Woodruff, WI on March 8, 1950. He had worked in the logging and roofing business for many years. Floyd most recently retired from the Oneida Casino where he worked as cashier. He was a fan of the Badgers, Packers, and Brewers. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren and family.
Survivors include his wife of forty years, Barbara Cornelius, two children, Floyd Schuman, Jr., Jacqueline Marie Schuman, five grandchildren, Damien Schuman, Sadie Schuman, Santierra Crume, Secquoia Cornelius and Tamiaya Cornelius. Floyd is further survived by his siblings, William (Rosetta) Schuman, Mildred Schuman (Frank Cobb), Mary Ashe, Maggie (Dave) Hume, as well as his in-laws, Karen Cornelius, Patricia (Stanley) Moore, Kenneth (Darlene) Cornelius, Jr., Alan Cornelius (Elaine Salinas), Cheryl Cornelius, Annette Melchert, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Jack Schuman, Frank Schuman, Robert Schuman, Sr., Beatrice Schuman, June Schuman, and many of his in-laws.
Family and friends may call at RYAN FUNERAL HOME 305 North Tenth Street, De Pere from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Sunday, April 27, 2014. Oneida Hymn Singers will sing from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. A time of storytelling and fellowship will follow and close the evening. Visitation will continue after 9:00 am Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, N6135 Seminary Road, Oneida until time of service. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Monday at the Church with President Andy Summers, officiating. Burial to follow in Oneida Nation Cemetery.
