Frances Gravelle, 80, of Escanaba, passed away peacefully on her 80th birthday on Monday, January 5, 2026, in Green Bay, Wisconsin with family by her side. She was born on January 5, 1946, in Marinette, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her parents, the late John I. and Cora (Schoen) Kobasic.

Frances graduated in 1964 from Holy Name High School, in Escanaba, Michigan. She then attended Bay De Noc Community College where she received her Associates Degree in Nursing and became an LPN in 1966. She worked in the emergency room at St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba, and worked at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, Michigan for over 20 years. She then became a steward on several ships sailing on the Great Lakes for another 20 years and eventually retired.

She was an excellent cook who especially enjoyed hosting large family dinners, particularly during the holidays. She was a fan of bowling and loved playing card games, especially Pinochle.

A devoted mother and grandmother, she treasured time spent with family. In her quieter moments, she enjoyed sewing, knitting, and other crafts, and was an avid reader of fiction and mystery novels. She was also a loyal Green Bay Packers fan.

Frances is survived by her daughter, Debra Martin; sons, Kevin (Melissa) Martin and Fred (Erin) Gravelle; grandchildren, Fred (Ashley) Gravelle, Rebekah Gravelle, Gavin Gravelle, Meghan Snyder, Mallory Martin, and Dustin Guenette; and numerous great-grandchildren, siblings, John J. (Karen) Kobasic and Martha (Dennis) Verbrigghe; brothers-in-law, Tom Ferguson, Jeff (Carrol) Gravelle, and John (Katie) Gravelle; sister-in-law, Carol Gravelle. Many nieces, nephews, and friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred Gravelle; son, Phillip Martin; brother-in-law, Francis Gravelle; and sister-in-law, Harriet Ferguson.

Per the Gravelle Family's wishes, a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
