Francis J. Vanden Heuvel age 72 of De Pere passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday February 17, 2012. He was born February 11, 1940 to the late Francis and Marie (Cady) Vanden Heuvel. He graduated from Nicolet High School in West De Pere. On September 10, 1959 he married Noreen Mooney. Francis had a great work ethic that he attributed to growing up on a farm. Francis started at Nicolet Paper Mill in 1960 and worked there for 27 years. He was a former member of local 6288. After leaving the mill he started at Vanevenhoven Hardware in De Pere and worked there for over 10 years. Francis then went to Pomp's Tires for 2 years. In his retirement years he looked after his mom, and spent a lot of time with his grandchildren who were the light of his life. He also enjoyed going to the cottage. Francis had a great sense of humor and had the gift of Gab. He is survived by his children; John Vanden Heuvel, Tim Vanden Heuvel, Denis (Cathy) Vanden Heuvel, Steve Vanden Heuvel, David (Julie) Vanden Heuvel, Michelle (fianc Tom Mann) Vanden Heuvel, Lori (Alex) Huerta, and Scott (fianc Melissa Strauss) Vanden Heuvel. His 8 grandchildren also survive; Mark (Krystal), Matt, Jamie, Ryan, Alex, Jasmine, Leah, Aishah, and his great granddaughter Krystiana. Francis is also survived by his sister Mary Butler, and his brother Richard (Janet) Vanden Heuvel. His father in law Wallace Mooney, as well as Noreen's family and nieces, nephews, and numerous friends survive. Francis was preceded in death by his wife Noreen, his twin sons Guy, and Gary, his parents, his mother in law Erdine Mooney, his brother in law Jim Butler and nephew Joe Van Nuland. Friends may call at the RYAN FUNERAL HOME 305 N. Tenth Street De Pere from 4 8pm Monday, with a parish prayer service at 4pm. Visitation will continue after 9am Tuesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish family corner of Lourdes Ave. and Suburban Drive in De Pere until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am with Fr. Tim Shillcox O.Praem officiating. Burial will take place at 2pm Tuesday in the Lawrence (Cady) Cemetery. Please go to www.ryanfh.com to send online condolences to the family.
