Frank J. La Mere, 98, Green Bay, passed away October 25, 2021 following complications from Covid. The son of Frank and Agnes (Orell) La Mere was born on September 2, 1923. On November 26, 1942, Frank married Willamine "Willie" Vetter at St. Francis Cathedral in Green Bay.
Frank served in the Military Police Corps for the United States Army in Europe during World War II. He spent his career as a line foreman for Wisconsin Public Service. He was a member of the "WPS Turtle Club" having had his hard hat save his life when it deflected a high voltage electrical wire.
He and Willie loved to drive the countryside on Sunday afternoons. They would attend church, drive somewhere for lunch and be home by dinner. Together, they spent years as members of the Whirl-A-Way Square Dance Club. Frank also enjoyed fishing, both in his boat and on ice, swimming, carpentry, remodeling and gardening. He loved family gatherings and was passionate about playing cards.
Frank is survived by his children, Annette "Nan" (Jim) Headrick, Paul (Karen) La Mere, Bruce La Mere, Beth Kleczewski, Tim La Mere and Lisa (Craig) Kosbab. He is further survived by his son-in-law, Larry Koth; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie; daughter, Joy Koth; son-in-law, Don Kleczewski; and members of both Frank and Willie's families.
Private family services were held at Ryan Funeral Home. Burial and full Military Honors took place at Lawrence Cemetery.
