Fred H. Engel, 87, died peacefully at home Wednesday, June 10, 2015. He was born January 12, 1928 to the late Frederick & Ella Engel in Neenah, Wisconsin. He married Mary Searles on July 11, 1953 at Holy Trinity Church in Kewaskum, WI.
He was preceded in death by his son, Terry in 2012. He is survived by his wife, Mary of 62 years, along with three sons; Tim of Waupaca, WI, Robin (Dena) of Louisville, KY, and Matthew (Ann) of Evanston, IL. Dad was a kind, honest, gentle person with high integrity.
Katie, Yana, Zachary, Maria, Elena, Andrew, Bronson and Benjamin Engel will miss their Grandfather Fritz.
Fred graduated from Neenah High School in 1946 where he was part of Neenah's State Championship Tennis team that year.
For over 57 years, he enjoyed gathering with close friends for their monthly penny poker club. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1946, and was a long time member of St. Michael Traditional Catholic Church in De Pere, WI. There, he was a member of the Holy Name Society.
A special thanks goes out to son, Tim, his Dad's "guardian angel" for his personal care at home along with the staff of Theda Care at Home Hospice.
A Traditional Latin Requiem Mass will be offered for the repose of his soul on Thursday, June 18 at 11:00am at St. Michael Traditional Catholic Church 1782 Chappelle Rue Road in De Pere, WI 54115 (off County Hwy D & Lost Dauphin Road) with burial to follow directly behind the Church. A visitation will take place from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the church.
