Gail R. (Turriff) Kempen, 77, of De Pere, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Wednesday, August 15, 2012. She was born July 7, 1935 a daughter of the late Earl and Unise (Lusier) Turriff. On September 24, 1955 she married Norman "Butch" Kempen at St. Boniface Church in De Pere. Butch preceded her in death on May 29, 1993.
Gail graduated from Holy Family School of Nursing in Manitowoc. She was a nurse for over 50 years; taking care of people at St. Vincent Hospital, Manor Care, Rennes Health Center, and retiring from Brown County Mental Health Center. She was God's faithful servant and strong in her faith, and an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family. She belonged to the Tuesday Night Prayer Group, was a past president of Christian Mothers at St. Boniface Church, volunteered at St. Vincent Hospital and Well Spring, and was a Girl Scout leader.
Gail is survived by her children: Mary (Ray) Wiercinski, De Pere, Mark (Marsha) Kempen, Luxemburg, Laura (Eric) Gerarden, De Pere, Steven (Barbara Willems) Kempen, Madison, and Beth (Craig) Knuth, Freedom; her 13 grandchildren: Charles (Lindsay Christiansen) Wiercinski, Derek ( Katrina Mihajlovich) Wiercinski, Leah Wiercinski, Amy Francis, Anina Bacon, Joshua Gerarden, Alyssa (Patrick Sweeney) Gerarden, Katie Gerarden, Sam Gerarden, Nicholas Kempen, Molleigh Kempen, Bennett Knuth and Josie Knuth; great grandchildren Ethan and Isabelle and a future great grandson in December. She is further survived by her siblings: Joan (Al) Bleser, Carol (Tom) Pilgrim, Rita Aerts, and David (Cecilia) Turriff; brother-in-law Bernard (Pat) Kempen, sisters-in-law Rose Ann (Dan) Polley and Yvonne Kempen and many nieces and nephews. Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Unise Turriff, her husband Norman "Butch" Kempen, and ten brothers and sisters-in-law.
Family and friends may visit from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 19, 2012 at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family, corner Lourdes Ave and Suburban Dr, De Pere. Prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. Mass of Christian Burial be at 10:30 a.m. at church with Fr.
