Obituary

George R. Thompson Jr., 51, Oneida, passed away peacefully with family and friends at his side after a brave battle with cancer on Thursday July 9, 2015. He was born on June 4, 1964 to Patricia Silas and the late George R. Thompson Sr. On May 29, 201 3he married his life long partner Katie Motto. George was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, member of VFW Post 7784, Oneida and a Brother member of the Rez Riders Car Club of Oneida. He had been an over the road truck driver for many years. George loved the outdoors, especially fishing, and hunting. He was a Jack of All Trades, and a friend to everyone. His greatest enjoyment came from fishing, hunting, family, and time spent with his grandson. George is survived by his wife Katie, his children; Danielle, Steven, Ammie, Rachel (Lavender), Paige, his grandson Jaxson, his mom; Patricia, siblings; T-Bone (Tamara), Sandy (Tom), Michelle, Robert, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, George R. Thompson Sr. Family and friends are asked to gather on Monday evening at 6pm at the Oneida Nation Veterans Memorial on Hwy 54, Oneida. The Oneida Hymn Singers will sing at 6pm, with full military honors, and Big Drum to follow. Please bring a lawn chair if you wish to sit for services.
