IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gerald "Jerry"
Hockers
April 27, 1955 – July 29, 2023
Gerald "Jerry" Hockers, 68, of De Pere, WI passed away from mesothelioma on July 29, 2023. He was born April 27, 1955, to Roland and Arleen (Lasee) Hockers in De Pere. He attended De Pere High School and Wisconsin School of Electronics.
Jerry married Cheryl Lebal on April 22, 1978, in St. Mary's Church at Glenmore.
He was employed at Paper Converting and Wisconsin Public Service.
In 1981, he and Cheryl welcomed their first of four children: Adam, Craig, Brandon, and Kevin. Throughout their childhoods he would get involved as a Cub Scout Leader and Soccer Coach for both Our Lady of Lourdes School and the Youth Summer Soccer League.
For more than twenty years, Jerry was sole proprietor of Electric-Serve, LLC. Even after retiring the business, he was known to friends and family as -in the words of granddaughter Claire- "a fixer."
In 1989, Jerry and Cheryl started the family tradition of vacationing in Minocqua, one that would continue even into June of this year.
Jerry enjoyed traveling with Cheryl, family, and friends. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending their recitals and sporting events. Jerry was an avid photographer, even collecting older cameras over the years. He loved music, as well as attending musicals and plays. He frequently attended the Chicago Auto Show. In recent years he began creating industrial art for his grandchildren, children, and for Habitat for Humanity's yearly auction.
He is survived by his wife Cheryl; his children Adam (Ashley), Craig (Sara), Brandon (Sarah), and Kevin (Allison); and grandchildren Phineas, Eleanore, Claire, Elsie, Rosalie, Collette, Amelia, Delilah, Brady, and Mason. His siblings Elaine (Glen) Van Rens, Larry (Eileen), Marilyn (Mike) Bonfigt, Karl (Laurie), and Joe (Susan) and in-laws Karen Lebal, Dianne Lebal, Glen (Stephanie) Lebal, nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Roland and Arleen Hockers, his stepfather Lester Krug, in-laws Norbert and Suzanne Lebal, and nephew Jason Van Rens.
Thanks to Dr. Bista and his nurse Tracy at Aurora, Mayo Clinic, and Unity Hospice. Thank you to all our family and friends who offered prayers and support. Memorials preferred to Mayo Clinic or Unity Hospice.
We love you dad; you were right about Craig's daughters.
