Gerald J. Petrzelka, 85, Green Bay, passed away of natural causes on Monday, August 26, 2024. He was born January 27, 1939, on the family farm in Deerbrook, WI. to the late Jerry Stanley and Frances Margaret (Mika) Petrzelka. Here on the farm, he was raised and learned the values of life he would keep for the next 85 years.
He graduated from Antigo High School, and then served in the U.S. Army as a E-5 Specialist. On February 9, 1963, he was united in marriage to Judy Lundberg.
Gerald drove as a union driver at Schneider Transport for 30 years. A professional Grandpa, nothing brought him more joy then his grandchildren and great grandchildren. A natural tinker and collector, Gerald enjoyed tinkering with wood in the garage and became a collector of "things". He and Judy loved their cabin which became their house in Crivitz for 15 years. A proud veteran, Gerald was a member of the American Legion Post 66 in Athelstane, WI.
He is survived by his wife Judy, their children; Tony (Jean) Petrzelka, and Christine (Mike) Wilbert. His sister, Carol (Gene) Wagner, and sister-in-law Eileen Petrzelka. Their grandchildren; Michael (Trisha) Wilbert, Christopher (April) Wilbert, Beth (James) Uher, Ben (April) Petrzelka, Vicky (Jim) Chapla, Jacob Petrzelka, Laura (Sky) Hang, Danny (Kirsten) Petrzelka, Bekah (Robert) Morrow, as well as 18 great grandchildren.
Friends and family may call at Living Hope Church 1840 W. Mason Street, Green Bay, on Saturday, September 7th beginning at 9:00AM, until time of service sat 11:30AM. Pastor Mike LeClaire officiating. Military honors will follow.
The family would like to give a special Thank You to the cancer department at Prevea, as well as Dr. Hansen, at Prevea Cardiology.
In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to cancer research.
