January 2, 1953 – June 28, 2023
Gerald Robert Van De Hei, 70, De Pere, passed away at home surrounded by family on June 28, 2023, following a two year battle with cancer. He was born in Green Bay on January 2, 1953 to Norbert and Margaret (Van Vonderen) Van De Hei.
Gerry attended West De Pere High School and Western Wisconsin Technical Institute in La Crosse. On June 23, 1973, he married Debra Spang at St. Joseph Church in De Pere. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Gerry was self employed, owning and operating VDH Mechanical. He was a member of Local 400 Union and RSES. Gerry coached boys and girls soccer and his youngsters through high school. He was a Harley enthusiast, enjoyed camping and loved watching his grandkids play sports.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie; children Judd (Amy), Jake (fiancé Blayne), and Joel (Shannon); grandchildren Marissa, Grant, Camdin, Beckett and Koleson; siblings, Ken (Dee) Van De Hei, Rita (Pat) Gallagher and Mary Pavlovich; siblings-in-law Mary Lee and Dan O'keefe; and dear friends Pete Hermsen and Lois Vieau.
Gerry was preceded in death by his parents, Norbert and Margaret; brothers Bob and Jim Van De Hei; sister Ann O'Keefe; and dear friends Vicky Hermsen and Roy Vieau.
Family and friends may visit at Ryan Funeral Home, 305 N. Tenth Street, De Pere, beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 6, 2023. A sharing of stories will conclude the visitation at 6:00 p.m.
