Obituary

Gerald "Jerry" James Vanden Langenberg, age 84, of De Pere, Wisconsin, was called to join God's angels on Sunday, September 25, 2022, after a short battle with cancer.

On April 29, 1938, Jerry was born to the late Harold and Anna (Van Laarhoven) Vanden Langenberg in Oneida, WI. He attended St. Joseph Grade School in Oneida and graduated from Seymour High School in 1957. On September 30, 1961, he was united in marriage to the late Joan Mooren at St. Boniface Catholic Church in De Pere. Jerry enlisted in the Navy and served his country from 1957 – 1962.

Jerry worked most of his career at Nicolet Paper in De Pere as a millwright, retiring from Anamax in Green Bay in June 2000. He was a devoted Christian and was an usher at St. Francis Catholic Church until 2020. He was also one of the Founding Members of Dusty Trails ATV Club in Mountain, WI, spending many years building and taking care of the trail system, as well as serving as the Vice President.

Jerry enjoyed spending time up north with his family, playing sheepshead, and hunting. He was a jack-of-all trades and taught his kids and grandkids how to fix and build almost anything! His grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him great pride and joy.

Jerry is survived by his 3 sons and daughters-in-law: Greg (Debbie, nee Rottier) Vanden Langenberg, Mike (Pam, nee Ourada) Vanden Langenberg and Pat (Laurie, nee Hendricks) Vanden Langenberg; 8 grandchildren, Evan (Becca) Vanden Langenberg, Erin (Andrew) Littlefield, Eric (Cheyenne) Vanden Langenberg, Alexa (Zach) Kurtzbach, Nick Ourada and fiancée, Jai, Meghan, Mollie, and Sam Vanden Langenberg; 7 great-grandchildren, Mari, Carson, Matthew Littlefield, Cara and Jema Vanden Langenberg, Rylee and Scarlett Kurtzbach; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his loving wife and parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved son, John Vanden Langenberg; siblings, Delores (Lolly) Hanstedt and Lawrence Vanden Langenberg; and brother-in-law, Ralph Matuszak.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated for Jerry at 12 PM on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 220 S. Michigan St., De Pere, WI 54115 by Rev. Fr. Mike Ingold. Family and friends may visit at the church from 10 AM to the time of mass. Interment will take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, De Pere.

Jerry's family wishes to extend a special thank you to Sage Meadow Assisted Living of De Pere for providing love and support to Jerry over the past 10 months. In addition, they would like to extend their gratitude to St. Vincent Hospital and Unity Hospice for their care and concern during his final days.

"We'll miss you, Dad."
