Gerrard "Gerry" "Ghost" Diaz, 35, of Green Bay, passed away suddenly from heart failure on Saturday, January 10, 2015. Gerry was born on April 23, 1979 in Chicago, Illinois. He attended Aldo Leopold and Preble High School. He received a Bachelor's degree in Communications and Political Science from St. Norbert College in 2004, where he was a member of BIG. After graduation, Gerry did freelance writing for the St. Norbert College Magazine. Even from a young age, Gerry wanted to be a writer and loved books. He worked at Barnes and Noble, as well as the Green Bay Press Gazette where he developed the Snapshot weekly neighborhood newspaper. He also worked for the National Geographic series "My Life is a Zoo" (http://natgeotv.com.au/tv/my-life-is-a-zoo/).Most recently, Gerry was the Sports Editor for the Shawano Leader, living his dream of covering the Green Bay Packers. He also wrote about the Packers for NFL.com and CBS Sports. In addition to writing, Gerry loved music, film, and politics. Gerry is survived by the love of his life, Kelsey Kubale, his mother, Kim Diaz, and her half side Tim Torrez, his uncle Kevin Howell, and cousins Danny, Nick and Aaron Howell. His great Uncles, Aunts, and cousins from the Gunderson and Rutherford Family, as well as his furry friends Meno, Cala, and Kalevala. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Lorrita (Lolly) Howell, and his grandfather, Paul Rutherford. Friends and family are encouraged to gather at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 305 North Tenth Street, De Pere, on Friday, January 16, 2015 from 4pm until 7pm. Visitation will continue at Dudley Birder Hall, 400 Grant Street, on The St. Norbert Campus on Saturday, January 17, 2015 beginning at 12pm.
