Gordon Thomas "Gordy" Smith, 79, Ashwaubenon, entered into the more immediate presence of his Lord and Savior on Friday afternoon, March 13 2015. The son of the late Howard and June (Peters) Smith was born in Ashwaubenon on December 30, 1935. From 1958-1960, Gordy proudly served his country in the US Army. On June 30 1962, he married the former Marilyn Miracle at St. Paul Methodist Church. Gordon was a lifelong and active member of West Side Moravian Church. He enjoyed duck hunting, harness racing, gardening, woodworking, collecting decoys and carvings, as well as going to antique shows and auctions. Gordy worked for the Village of Ashwaubenon for many years before his retirement in 1998. He was also a past member of the Ashwaubenon Volunteer Fire Department and the Green Bay Duck Hunters Association.
Gordon is survived by his adoring wife of 52 years, Marilyn; two daughters, Deborah (Andrew) Blazek and Jacqueline Smith; two grandsons, Ivan and Caleb, and beloved friend Nancy Knapton, who was like a daughter to Gordy; two siblings, Nora (Gene) Corey, Clyde (Barbara) Smith; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; as well as three siblings, Howard (Lois) Smith, Roy Smith, and Phyllis Gerrits.
Friends and family are asked to gather at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 305 North Tenth Street, De Pere, WI on Monday, March 16, 2015 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm. Visitation will continue at West Side Moravian Church, 1707 South Oneida Street, Green Bay, WI beginning at 9:30am. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am, Rev. Marian Boyle officiating.
