Obituary

Gregory (Gregg) Richard Wittman, Krakow WI, passed away on Saturday October 16th, 2021 at a his home in Krakow WI, surrounded by his loving family - after a 3 year battle against Pancreatic Cancer. He was born May 21st, 1970 to Richard and Linda (Gordon) Wittman. On July 3rd, 1999 Gregg was united in marriage to the love of his life Elizabeth Diane (Helms) Wittman. He grew up in Marquette Michigan, and came to Green Bay WI right after college to work for a regional retailer called Shopko Stores. He worked there for 18 years, met his wife there, and had several different jobs during that time. He was a CADD designer, CADD manager, a Fantasy Football Commissioner, and also a Sr. Network architect, which was quite a departure from his schooling. But, he found over time that he loved the complexity / rules / puzzle of keeping the computer servers of a big company running optimally. Then, he went to a new job with Bellin Hospital, where he took care of their servers for 11 years as well, as a Sr System Administrator. His knowledge and can do attitude will be missed greatly by all who knew him. Gregg had many loves in his life, including hockey, soccer, downhill skiing, fantasy football, riding 4-wheelers, bow and gun hunting, shooting trap, checking his many deer cams for monster bucks, Redwing Hockey and coaching area children & high schoolers not only the love of the soccer and hockey games he so enjoyed teaching, but also life lessons like perseverance, teamwork, pride in a job well done and a patient / kind way of molding those individual players into a cohesive team. Gregg is survived by his loving wife; Liz and his children Jacob Charles, Kaitlynn Nicole & Alyssa Marie Wittman, his Father & Mother Richard & Linda Wittman, as well as his siblings Shelly (Shane) Jackson, Bryan (Kelly) Wittman, as well as many Aunts/Uncles/Nieces/Nephews, extended family, friends, co-workers and players on several hockey & soccer teams. He was preceded in death by his Grandparents Herman & Budde Gordon and Werdell & Beulah Wittman, and his Uncle Bernie Langmeyer. As Gregg would say to his various teams during huddles and difficult games, "If you give me everything you got and we lose, I will never be upset." So, in that same spirit, we can never be upset with this almost 3 year long battle. He played and fought his heart out and gave it everything he could. We can only be happy for him, that he's finally able to get back on the ice again now, with all the power and grace we were accustomed to seeing from him. Just imagine the skate-by fist bumps, and seeing the massive fist pump on one knee, sliding on the ice – as he celebrates his ascension to his new life, and the resulting celebrations to come for him. I'm sure there are lots of happy hugs / slaps on the back, and he will greet us the same way, when we see him again! Special thanks to the Doctors/Nurses at the Bellin Cancer Building for all of their support over his 3 year battle with Pancreatic Cancer, including our special friends Dr. Hassan Tahsildar / Jani Cook (Bellin Cancer), and Dr. Natalia Uboha /Dr. Rebecca Minter (both of Madison Carbone Hospital). Memorial Gifts can be sent to any of these organizations, as special thanks for all the caring & support they have shown us as well during his difficult battle: • PANCAN.org (Pancreatic Cancer Action Network) • CaringBridge.org Family and friends may call on Friday, October 22, 2021 at Peace Lutheran Church, 1954 County Rd U, Green Bay from 4:00pm until 7:00pm, sharing of stories will begin at 6:30pm.
