Harold F. Linsmier, 85, of De Pere died early Sunday morning, January 3, 2010 at a local hospital. The son of the late Joseph and Pearl (Dorsey) Linsmier was born May 9, 1924 in Glenmore. He was a graduate of De Pere High School.
Harold served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and saw action in the South Pacific and Philippines. On October 6, 1951 he married the former Geneva Cornelissen at St. Boniface Church, De Pere. She preceded him in death on November 6, 1994. Harold worked at Wisconsin Public Service prior to his retirement in 1986 as warehouse supervisor. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club and the Men's Club at WPS. He volunteered at the Red Cross and Rennes Health Center following his retirement. He loved golfing and socializing with his friends at Mid-Vallee. He was very active in his retirement years, enjoying his many friends that he met through his daily walking at the mall and his coffee club friends. Harold belonged to a bowling league and enjoyed cheering on the Packers. He was very active in his grandchildren's lives, from soccer games to baseball and football through college years.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Linda (Dean) Pigeon, grandchildren, Melanie, and her fianc, Joe Manske, and Chad Pigeon, three sisters, Helen Lenz, Doris (Jim) Manders, Rita Van Lanen, one brother, Joseph "Nabby" (Lola) Linsmier, as well as Geneva's family, Verna Hockers, and Norman Cornelissen. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Geneva, two brothers-in-law, Lloyd and Vernon Cornelissen and two sisters-in-law, Angie Klister, and Regina Coenen.
Friends may call at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family, corner of Lourdes Avenue and Suburban Drive, De Pere from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Wednesday January 6, 2010. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 4:00 pm on Wednesday at the church with Father Tim Shillcox, officiating. Burial in All Saints Cemetery, Denmark.
