Obituary

Harvey Everett Cornelius, 63, of De Pere, died Saturday January 16, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. At the time of his death, Harvey resided at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI. The son of the late Kenneth and Elaine (Webster) Cornelius was born June 29, 1946 in Milwaukee. Harvey graduated form West De Pere High School and Fox Valley Technical College. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, until his honorable discharge. He was employed by Appleton Manufacturing as a Journeyman Machinist. Harvey enjoyed camping, fishing and gambling with his friends. He enjoyed time with his grandchildren and playing practical jokes and teasing his grandson, Payton. Harvey will be remembered for his quick wit, sense of humor and his love of Elvis Presley music. Harvey is survived by his son Rick A. Cornelius and daughter-in-law, Bridget Mendolla-Cornelius, grandchildren, Presley and Payton Cornelius, brothers and sisters, Karen Cornelius, Pat Moore, (Stanley), Kenneth Cornelius, Jr.(Darlene), Barbara Cornelius (Floyd Schuman Sr.), Alan Cornelius (Elaine), Cheryl Cornelius, Annette Melchert, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth, Sr., and Elaine (Webster) Cornelius, siblings, Sylvia Cornelius, Geraldine Cornelius, Darlene Cornelius, Pamela Cornelius , as well as two infant brothers. Friends and family may call at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 305 North Tenth Street, De Pere from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon on Tuesday January 19, 2010. Oneida Hymn singing will begin at 11:00 am and continue up to service time. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon Tuesday at the funeral home with Oneida Veterans Military Rites to follow. Visitation will continue after 10:00 am on Wednesday at the Chapel at Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at King, WI until time of service. Full Military Burial Rites will be accorded Mr. Cornelius at 11:00 am Wednesday at the Cemetery Chapel with Burial to follow in the Veteran's Cemetery.
