Obituary

Helen DeRuyter, 83, De Pere, died September 19, 2008 after a short illness. The former Helen Baeten was born in Ashwaubenon on February 13, 1925, the daughter of the Peter and Hattie Baeten. On June 16, 1945 she married the late Donald DeRuyter at St. Boniface Church in West De Pere. He preceded her in death on August 16, 1978. Together they farmed in the Town of Lawrence for many years. She loved gardening and bowling in her spare time. She is survived by her children; Steve, Green Bay, Bill (Cheryl), Ohio, Sandy (Tom) Mantz, De Pere, Don, De Pere, Larry (Maureen), De Pere, Lynn, Minnesota, daughter in law Barb, Green Bay. Helen is further survived by her grandchildren; Matt (Kendra), Tina (Kevin) Carr, Joe (Denise Horozewski), Adam (Michelle), Green Bay, Travis and Jared, and five great grandchildren. She is further survived by her brother, Harold (Mary Ann) Baeten, her sister Donna Mae Bostedt, and her brother in law Clarence Geurts. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald, daughter, Susan, and son Bernie. Her father and mother, Peter and Hattie Baeten, sisters; Mary Geurts, Ruth (Loren) Olson and brother in law, Roy Bostedt. Friends may call at the RYAN FUNERAL HOME 305 N. Tenth Street, De Pere from 3:30pm 7pm on Wednesday, with a parish prayer service at 3:30pm. There will be NO VISITATION ON THURSDAY. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am Thursday at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family, corner of Lourdes Ave. and Suburban Dr. De Pere with Fr. Tim Shillcox O.Praem officiating.
