IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Henry "Hank"
Secor
January 15, 1940 – August 16, 2024
Henry (Hank) Secor, jr., 84, De Pere, passed away on Friday evening, August 16, 2024, with his family by his side. The youngest of ten children, Hank was born on January 15, 1940, to the late Henry Sr. and Winifred (Calaway) Secor.
Following his graduation from Nicolet High School, he began working in the Parks Department for the city of De Pere. He discovered early on that a career in automobiles matched his interests much better. Hank enjoyed buying cars, painting and selling them, and he always had a nice vehicle himself. Eventually, Hank opened his own service station, "Secor's Skelly Station" in Wrightstown. A few years later, he ran the service station across from his Fourth Street home before joining Cuene Buick in 1979 where he served generations of families as a trusted salesman, selling vehicles for over twenty-five years.
Joining him in these adventures was Hank's loving, devoted wife of 57 years, Mary Beth (Krawczyk) Secor. The first time they met in the Kroll's parking lot, his flashy car was what first caught Mary's attention. Hank had a rare record player in his vehicle, and when he played "She's Neat" by Dale Wright for her, she was immediately smitten. They were married not long after, on October 17, 1964, and enjoyed many years of faith, love and companionship together until Mary's passing in 2021. Hank and Mary set a perfect example for their three children on how to create a supportive and happy marriage and home.
Hank relished time spent with his growing family and especially liked to affectionately tease his grandchildren, whom he adored. He enjoyed going for walks with his faithful dog, Buddy, watching the Packers, Brewers and old cowboy shows, going to dinner with friends and traveling to different casinos with Mary. Hank's favorite place to dine was Union Hotel where he would order a tenderloin steak along with a couple Old Fashioneds. And Grandpa sure loved his peanut butter cookies and sweets but was quick to share.
Throughout Hank's life, his faith has been steadfast. As a young boy, he was an altar server at St. Boniface, and he and Mary were parishioners there until it became Our Lady of Lourdes, where Hank later developed a friendship with his buddy, Fr. Jim. As mobility became more difficult, he would have "mass with the bishop" on the television, each Sunday morning. Recently, Hank shared that he had a conversation with Mother Mary, which gave him peace. Hank exemplified Christian values as a humble, gracious and loving servant. He was thankful for even the smallest gestures of kindness up until his last days. His family and all who cared for and loved him, never doubted how much he appreciated them.
Hank is survived by his children: David Secor, Kim (Mike) Jameson, and Jim (Amie) Secor; grandchildren: Brooke (Tyler) Saxton, Morgan Jameson, Hayley (Sarah) Bakker, Collin, Trevor Secor, great grandson Leroy Saxton, sisters-in-law: Judi Becker, Lynn (Dale) Herold, Paula (Ken) Piton; brothers-in-law: Vern (Judy) Krawczyk, and Skip (Sue) Krawczyk. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Hank was preceded in death by his siblings: Anna Marie, Harold (Lou), George (Marie), Rose (Dick), June (Ralph), Betty (Lowell), Ruth (George), Walter "Chub", Jerome "Joe" (Marlene); his mother and father-in-law, Isabelle (Samorske) and Zeno Krawczyk; his dear friend, Jerry Krueger; and many relatives.
Family and friends may call at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, De Pere, on August 22, beginning at 9 a.m. and continuing until the mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. with Fr. Jim Baraniak, O.Praem, officiating. Burial will take place at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
