Obituary

Herbert R. Blondheim, 91, De Pere died peacefully, the way he had lived, Friday evening December 10, 2010. He was born March 3, 1919 in the Twsp. of Morgan, Oconto County to the late Roy and Emma (Pansch) Blondheim. He served his country in the United States Army in both WWII (1941-1946) and Korean War (1950-1951). On April 6, 1969 he married Leah May Cooper in Athens, Greece. From 1952 1970 Herb was a Field Engineer for Hughes Aircraft. Then from 1970 until his retirement in 1984 Herb worked for the Florida Dept. of Transportation. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating. He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW, Combat Infantry Association, Society of Third Infantry Division, and the 7th Infantry Regiment Association. In his younger years was a proud member of the Boy Scouts of America Troop 3, Green Bay from 1932 to 1937 and the Civilian Conservation Corp. from 1937 to 1938 having serves at Camp Alvin, WI. Herb is survived by his sister Jeannette Marcusen, sisters-in-law, Margaret Blondheim-Brennan, June Blondheim and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Leah, sisters, Geraldine (Willard) Stutzman, Lorraine, and Betty, brothers, Earl "Johnny", Jerome, and Ben, brother-in-law Lloyd. Friends may call at the RYAN FUNERAL HOME 305 N. Tenth Street De Pere from 5:00pm Monday, December 13, 2010 until time of service at 6:30pm with local VFW military honors to follow.
