Obituary

Herbert Coenen, 88, De Pere died peacefully with his family by his side on Monday night, October 18, 2010 at a local nursing home. Herb was born on November 10, 1921 in De Pere to Frank and Lena (Albers) Coenen. On January 6, 1947 he married the former Beatrice Gerarden the love of his life. He served his country for five and a half years as a paratrooper during World War II in the South Pacific. He volunteered for the first Army experimental paratroop unit while it was still in its infancy. Herbert worked for Nicolet Paper Company from 1945 until his retirement in 1983. He will be remembered for great things, especially for how much he loved his whole family. Herb was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Parish. Herbert is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Beatrice; their children: Gary H. (Bev) Coenen, Suamico; Ron (Judy) Coenen, De Pere; Dawn (Joie) Kampen, De Pere; son in law, Jim Lasee, Bellingham, WA; brothers Fritz and Clarence Coenen; sisters; Helen (Norb) Achten, Rosemary (Joe) Bartels; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Gerarden, Hazel Van De Ven, Margaret Forsythe, and Millie Coenen. His cherished grand children: Tiffany (Chris) Sanders and their children Lauren, Anna, and Mary; Graham (Erika) Lasee; Melissa (Ty) Little; Melissa and Matt Coenen; Jacob, Jed, Lena and Luke Kampen; and MyKenzie Wolford (granddaughter of Ron and Judy) Herbert was preceded in death by his parents, two children, Randy Coenen and Cindy Lasee, brother, Louis Coenen, sisters, Agatha (Leo) Albers, Florence (Sam) Boyea and Caroline (Ray) Lisch, brothers-in-law Donald Gerarden, Bernard Gerarden and Art Van De Ven, and his sisters in law; Eleanor Coenen and Fran Coenen. Herb will be very sadly missed by us all. He was a wonderful husband, father, and beloved grandpa. He was a very hard working man his whole life, and was always there to help. Friends may call at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 305 N. Tenth St, De Pere, Thursday, October 21, 2010 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Friday, October 22, 2010 at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family, corner of Lourdes Ave and Suburban Dr, De Pere from 9:00 AM until time of service. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM Friday, with Fr. Conrad Kratz, O. Praem., officiating. Please visit www.ryafh.com to send online condolences to the Coenen family.
