Obituary

Herbert P. Van Hout, 84, De Pere, was received into the arms of our Lord on Friday, September 12, 2008. He was born July 18, 1924 in Big Stone City, SD, a son of the late John and Mary (Paul) Van Hout. Herbert served his country in the US Army during WWII. On June 19, 1948 Herbert married the former Jean Bellin in De Pere. Herbert was employed by the postal service for 32 years serving as Postmaster for the Manitowoc Post Office for the last 6 years. He was a member of Resurrection Catholic Parish, Serra International, Knights of Columbus, and volunteer for SCORE (for which he started in Green Bay). He attended club meetings and was an usher at church. Herbert is survived by his wife of 60 years Jean Van Hout, De Pere; sons: Craig (Sandra) Van Hout, Columbia, SC and Kurt (Marsha) Van Hout, Appleton; two grandchildren; two step grandchildren; two great grandchildren; four step great grandchildren and two brothers: Eugene and Joseph, both of Green Bay. Herbert was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law Shirley Van Hout. Visitation for Herbert will be held on Monday, September 15, 2008 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 305 N. Tenth St, De Pere. Prayer service at 7:00 PM Visitation on Tuesday at church from 9:30 AM until time of Mass. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at 10:30 AM at Resurrection Catholic Parish, 333 Hilltop, Allouez. Entombment will be in Shrine of the Good Shepherd.
