Obituary

Howard (Howie) H. Currey, 68, Greenleaf, passed into eternal life on Friday, June 30, 2023, surrounded by his loving family after small-cell cancer ravaged his strong body. Howie was born June 2, 1955, to Horace and Roverta (Knabenshue) Currey in Marinette, WI. Howie was a farm boy through and through and a Rockland boy. He worked on Louie Hoskens' farm and worked building silos for many years with Cashman Silo Co. Howie entered the Carpenter's Millright Union in 1985 where he worked tirelessly for many union shops and retired in 2015. It is through his life's work where he met most of his lifelong friends.

More important than his work was his family. He met his wife Peggy (Farrell) in 1978. They were married September 19, 1981, in Askeaton, WI. Howie's proudest accomplishment was having his three children, seeing them marry wonderful people, and being blessed with 8 beautiful grandchildren. Howie's motto was "Live to ride, ride to live." He loved his wheels – his Corvette, Harley, UTV, and Kabota. He enjoyed the outdoors, wood working, cutting wood, and cheering on the Packers and other Wisconsin sport teams. From the Florida Keys to Idaho to Las Vegas, Howie's favorite times were when he could be driving his motorcycle. After cancer set in, his grandchildren were the beneficiary of his many UTV rides and Peggy and him got more time to burn rubber off of those Corvette tires. Lots of miles and lots of smiles!

Howie leaves behind his wife Peggy of almost 42 years; son Luke Currey and his wife Nicole and their children Bennett and Clara; daughter Emily and her husband Brad Stellmacher and their children Camden and Jack; daughter Jolene and her husband Tony Vandeloo and their children Nash, Beau, Odin, and Della. Howie is also survived by his sister Ruth and Mike Jansen, mother-in-law Dolores Farrell, in laws Dennis and Sharon Farrell, Gary Farrell, Mark and Theresa Farrell, Bill and Shelly Farrell, Cathy and Mark Wiese, Chris and Mike Gries, Dave and Laura Farrell, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law Gene Farrell, and nephew Joe Jansen.

Family and friends may visit at St. Clare, Askeaton Campus, 7815 St Pats Church Road, Greenleaf, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 7, 2023. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Brian Wideman officiating. Ryan Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

The family would like to thank the Green Bay Oncology Team of Dr. Jaslowski for their time and care and Unity Hospice for their care and compassion. Great thanks must also be extended to all of the family and friends who have been an enormous support during this eighteen month journey. We could not have done this without you.

We cannot put into words on what you meant to us Howie, dad, grandpa/papa. We are sure you are on the ride of your life. May the road rise to meet you and the wind be always at your back. We love you and miss you forever.
