Huston V. Wheelock, 91, Oneida, passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, February 23, 2023.

Huston served his country in Korea, proud U.S. Marine. After returning from service, he married the love of his life, Charlene Hawpetoss.

A proud member of Local 200 of the Teamsters, he works at CW Transport for 30 years.

A lover of the outdoors, Huston enjoyed fishing, boating, picking mushrooms, strawberries, and blueberries. Camping with family and going for rides were things he enjoyed. A friend to all, Huston always had an ear to listen and a story to share (with a little BS mixed in). He loved going to Pow Wow's, especially when he led the veterans in carrying the colors.

He is survived by his children; Mark Denning, Valicia "Lisa" (Rick) Vega, and Vanita "Vanny" Wheelock. His grandchildren; Ahsan Vega, Kemewan Wheelock, Sapatis Menomin, Mesaen Wheelock, Neset Vega, Be-Wab-bec Menomin, and his 13 great grandchildren. His sister Erma Denny, brother Eldon Wheelock and numerous nieces and nephews also survive him.

Huston was preceded in death by his parents, wife Charlene, his children; Huston Vallee Wheelock Jr., Valleen E. Menomin, Vanessa Wheelock, and his sister Jeanette Polk.

Friends may call after 9:00AM Tuesday, February 28th at Ryan Funeral Home 305 N. Tenth Street, De Pere, until time of service at 12:00PM. Veterans service will follow with burial to take place at 1:30PM at Oneida Methodist Cemetery.
