Ida C. Moore, 82, of Oneida, passed away on Wednesday evening, May 29, 2013. The daughter of the late Peter and Delia (King) Powlas was born on October 24, 1930. On February 3, 1956 she married Russell Moore. He preceded her in death in 1983. Ida enjoyed playing bingo, watching movies, and was an aspiring actress (appearing in a few off-Broadway numbers) before she developed a love for teaching where she spent 18 years teaching 5th grade in New York. She was a dedicated teacher, and she even kept track of all the students she tutored to see how they were doing. It was because of this commitment to her students that she was regarded continually as one of the top ten teachers in her school district. More than anything, Ida had a generous spirit that she shared with others.
Ida will be deeply missed by her children, Randy Moore and Amy Skenandore; her grandchildren, Ron (Kathy) Jones and Rachael Moore; great grandchildren, Hope Jones, Jordan Eastman, and Breanna Eastman. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
