Obituary

Ila Jean (Babe) Statezny Pezon Hamblin 92, died after a courageous battle with cancer on February 16, 2024 at home. She was born December 29, 1931 in Crandon, Wisconsin, the daughter of Paul and Nina (Feight) Statezny.

Ila moved to Green Bay, Wisconsin in 1950 with her cousin Ione Feight. She worked for Sneezer's Snack Shop on Broadway and Greenwood for over 20 years. Her picture appeared in the Neville Public Museum and in the book Green Bay's West Side along with her co-workers. Ila and her husband Frank Pezon took over the former Froelich's Sinclair on the corner of Ninth and Broadway. Pezon's Sinclair Super Service was in operation for 15 years and home of the Pissant Boys- no matter how hard she tried to get rid of them!

Ila moved to Anchorage, Alaska and married Michael Hamblin in 1975. Ila worked as a waitress for Cattleman's Restaurant until they purchased Preferred Trailer Court. They opened Ila's Jewelry in 1980 and David's Jewelers in Northway Mall in Anchorage, which is still in operation today.

Ila was an amazing baker and also loved tending to her flowers. For many years, she and Michael enjoyed winters in Englewood, Florida. Ila cherished time spent with family and friends. One of her favorite memories was receiving an autographed Donald Driver Packer jersey on her 80th birthday, which will be on display at her service.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband Frank Pezon; sisters Grace Mullins and Betty (Kulinski) Brigham; brothers Ervin, Johnie, Merle, and Melvin Statezny; grandson Jake Pezon and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Surviving, in addition to her husband Michael are sons Alan (Charlene) Pezon, Brian Pezon, Gary (Kristine) Pezon; brother Glenn (Bud) and wife Kathy Statezny; brother in-law Gene (Pat) Pezon; sister-in-law Gretchen (Roger) Race.

Grandchildren Julie (Chris) VanPay, Kassi (Justin) Off, Mari Sprinkle. Great grandchildren Emilie (Brody) Stitz, Hannah VanPay, Madison Sprinkle, and Mason Harshfield; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and special friend David Hall.

Interment will be at the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Chapel Mausoleum at Nicolet Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, Ila requested that donations be made in her memory to the Vince Lombardi Cancer Center. The family would like to thank her wonderful healthcare providers and hospice nurses.
