"Gone with the Wind". Iris (Graham) Wright, a true Southern Belle, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2016 from natural causes following a long battle with Alzheimer's/Dementia. She was born Sept. 30, 1927 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. A beautiful young woman, she was Queen of her Freshman class at Furman University, before marrying her first husband at the end of World War II. After raising a family, Iris worked for many years at Brown County Social Services as a case worker. Her favorite phrase was: "Yard by yard, life is hard. Inch by inch, life's a cinch." She lived by that motto, always embracing each day with a smile and enthusiasm, and never worrying about the future. She was preceded in death by both parents (George and Maxine Graham), and four siblings - Bob, Bill, Jack, and Sybil. She was also preceded in death by both husbands Donald Van Ells, and Patrick Wright. Finally, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa, and a granddaughter, Madison. Iris is survived by two daughters Diane Gupta and Victoria (Chris) Brown. She is also survived by four sons Marc Van Ells, Eric Wright, Patrick Wright and Grant Wright. She is further survived by grandchildren Ian Forbes, Melissa Frier, Hitesh Gupta, Channel and Graham Wright, and Zoey and Jack Wright. Per her desire, Iris will be cremated and her ashes interred at Mount Calvary Cemetery. There will be a private gathering of family members. Ryan Funeral Home is handling all funeral arrangements. A special thanks to James Winter of Stone Winter Guardians and Karen and the loving staff at Birch Creek.
