John (Jack) Baraniak, 82, of Antigo, passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 with his wife and four children at his side, after a courageous battle with cancer. The son of the late Frank and Anna (Maly) Baraniak, was born on June 16, 1928 in Antigo. Jack was a 1947 graduate of Antigo High School. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict serving as Corporal in Munich, Germany from April 25, 1951 until March 21, 1953.
Upon the completion of military service, he married Haley (Jackie) Arrowood at Saint Mary Catholic Church of Antigo on May 29, 1954. Together Jack and Jackie gave life to four children, David, Gina, Theresa and Jim.
After high school, Jack resided in Milwaukee where he worked at the Allen-Bradley Corporation and the Pabst Brewery. After service in the military, Jack served as the manager of the Glendale Dairy in Milwaukee, and upon returning to Antigo, he worked at Kraft Foods and retired from the company in 1990 after 33 years of dedicated service.
Jack was fond of painting, and assisted elderly neighbors in providing handyman services to those in need. An avid sports fan, Jack had a particular allegiance to the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers. The greatest love in his life, however, was the devotion he had for his family, including his wife, four children, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Jack is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jackie, as well as his children, David (Marilyn) Baraniak, Gina (Timothy) Koeppel, Teresa (Joseph) Zingale, and Father James Baraniak, O. Praem. Jack is further survived by two sisters, Esther Rolo and Betty Kielcheski, both of Antigo and a sister-in-law, Leona Baraniak of Milwaukee, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Anna, an infant sister, Alice, and his brother, Raymond.
