Jack Weigel, 87, of De Pere, passed away Tuesday September 6, 2016 at a local nursing home. Raymond John Weigel was the son of the late William and Ida (St. Jacque) Weigel and was born July 20, 1929 in La Crosse. He married the former Elizabeth "Betty" Johnson on August 6, 1949 at First Congregational Church in La Crosse. The couple celebrated 67 years of marriage this past August.
Jack worked for Spence-McCord and General Medical for thirty years. He retired from Bellin Hospital in 1992. Jack was a longtime member and usher at First Congregational United Church of Christ, De Pere, and the Green Bay Retired Men's Club. He was a longtime member of the Greenwood Cemetery Board and was an avid bowler and golfer.
Survivors include his wife, Betty, three children, Jane (Ted) Conard, Jerry (LuAnne) Weigel, and Jenny (Jeff) Meeuwsen, four grandchildren, Lissa (Tyson) Siebers, Shelby (John) Schweitzer, Chris (Stephanie) Conard, Katy Conard and friend, Sam, four great grandchildren, Kael, Delaney, Romy, and Rheo. He was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey, his siblings, Marie Page, Lucille Christensen, Ida Mae Kabat, William L. Weigel and Leona Day.
Family and friends may call at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 1018 Cedar Street, De Pere from 3:00 to 6:00 pm on Friday September 9, 2016. Funeral service will be held at 6:00 pm Friday at the church with Rev. Nancy Zorn Micke, officiating. Inurnment in Greenwood Cemetery. Ryan Funeral Home & Crematory, De Pere is assisting the family with arrangements.
A memorial fund for the church in Jack's name has been established. The family extends a special thanks to the staff at Rennes Health Center and an angel named Wanda.
