James (Jim) Blean, Green Bay, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 29, 2016. Jim was born in Erie, Illinois, to proud parents, Miles and Mabel Blean on July 3, 1921. Jim had one brother, Robert. Sadly, Robert preceded him in death. After Jim's beloved mother, Mabel passed away; his dad Miles remarried a wonderful woman named Ruth. Growing up, Jim loved working on the farm. When he was 10 years old, Jim started cultivating corn with a team of horses. At the age of 12, he was driving a car and at age 17, driving a tractor! In 8th grade Jim attended a one room schoolhouse. Jim graduated from Erie High School. After high school, Jim was not able to enter military service. He was needed to help his father on the farm. In his lifetime, Jim had two very important careers; he was a farmer and a Correctional Officer.
Jim married his sweetheart, Jerry on January 8, 1977. Jim has four children: Judy Valentine, Janis (Terry) Blean-Kachigan, Jim (Lori) Blean, and Joel (Carolyn) Blean. Jerry has two children: Kay Krull and Barb Krull. Together, they have been blessed with 19 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren.
There are many memories that are near and dear to Jim's heart; the day he married Jerry, traveling all over the country and spending 22 winters in Texas.
Over the years, Jim has been involved in numerous organizations and activities such as; Farm Bureau, church choir, school director, Moose Lodge, and Salvation Army. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, gardening, and going to the casino.
