Obituary

The Lord reached his hand and said, "Jim, it's time for us to go home." James C. Roffers "Jim" took the hand of Jesus and went to be with his heavenly father on Thursday September 8, 2016 after a courageous battle with diabetes and complications, dementia, and pancreatic cancer. Jim was the third child born on September 24, 1938 to Lester H. and Henrietta M. (Kocken) Roffers in Green Bay, WI. Jim attended Beauty Grove Grade School and Nicolet High School. He worked driving milk trucks, worked for AJ Wells and finally in 1959 got a job working for Schneider Transport where he retired in 1995 after 37 years. He then owned and operated West Side Lock and Repair for 15 years until health problems forced his retirement. On May 14, 1960 he married the former Ruth Ann Aldrich at the National Shrine of St. Joseph in West De Pere, WI. and together they raised 3 children. Jim was a self-taught mechanic and worked on motors, small engines and had an interest in Stock Car racing, having built two cars. He seldom drove them, but had other driver for him. This was the early 1960's 1970's. He raced at several tracks; perhaps you remember cars 0 and 00. Jim was also an avid bowler and golfer, and enjoyed these sports very much. He also was a Packer fan and made two trips out west hunting. Jim mostly enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Jim is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ruth Ann, their three daughters and sons in law, Debra (Todd) Schneider, Michelle (Tom) Rodgers, and Diane (Paul) Schmitt. Grandchildren; Nicholas Schneider, Kristin (Joshua) Baack, Stephanie Rodgers, Jamie Rodgers, Benjamin (Lacy) Rodgers, Loretta (Bryan) Rich, Leonard Rodgers, Wendy Rodgers, Cory Schmitt, and Rebecca Schmitt. His great grandchildren; Chloe, Wesley Rich, Lukas, Zackary, and Kole Rodgers, and Skyler and Daphne Baack. Jim's siblings also survive him; Willard (Jean) Roffers, Betty (Lee) Schmitt, David (Claire) Roffers, Robert Roffers, Harley (Nancy) Roffers, Gary (Carolyn) Roffers, Linda (Gary) Halase, and Joseph Roffers. Ruth Ann's siblings also survive; Harold (Francine) Aldrich, Beverly Kinnard, Elaine Jourdan, Evelyn Aldrich, June Janz, Eileen (Ed) Janz. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, and infant sister Mary Jo, one brother Michael, and brother in laws; Donald Aldrich, Levi Hampton, and Hubert Jourdan. Friends may call at RYAN FUNERAL HOME 305 N. Tenth Street De Pere after 4:00 PM on Sunday September 11, 2016. A parish prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM to bring the evening to a close. Visitation will continue on Monday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2771 Oakwood Dr. Green Bay after 9:00 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM with Fr. Paul Demuth officiating. Entombment will follow at the Allouez Catholic Mausoleum. Please go to www.ryanfh.com to send online condolences to the family. The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to the Angels at Angels on Arcadia for the loving care they extended to Jim while he was in residence there. Thanks also to his Drs for their constant care. The ladies and gentlemen from Asera Care who did their best to make Jims last days as comfortable as possible. Fr. Paul, staff, and the entire parish community for the loving prayers and support. Also, for all those who prayed diligently for us. May God bless you all.
