Obituary

James "Jim" Skorczewski, 55, of De Pere, died peacefully Thursday morning, December 1, 2011 at home after an eighteen month battle with pancreatic cancer. The son of Joseph and Valeria (Dombroski) Skorczewski was born May 6, 1956 in Green Bay, WI. He was a graduate of Preble High School, University of Wisconsin- Platteville, and he received his Master's Degree from UW Green Bay. He married the former Bonnie Boyce in Green Bay on September 16, 1978. Jim enjoyed traveling (especially to Las Vegas), spending time in his yard, and was a man who always had time to help others. Jim was a member of Ashwaubenon Public Safety Department where he worked for 27 years, holding various positions and retiring as Commander of Support Services. During his time at APS, Jim enjoyed building strong relationships within the community including the coordination of security for special events such as Packer games. Most recently, he was employed by St. Norbert College as Director of Campus Safety. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie, one son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Carissa, St. Paul, MN, one sister, Linda King, two nieces, Erin and Leah King. He was preceded in death by his parents. Family and friends may call at RYAN FUNERAL HOME 305 North Tenth Street, De Pere, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday December 2, 2011 (TODAY). Visitation will continue after 9:00 am Saturday at Old St. Joe's Catholic Church on St. Norbert College Campus until time of service. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 am Saturday at the church with Father James Baraniak, O. Praem., officiating.
