Obituary

James Joseph Vanden Boogard, formerly of De Pere and Kimberly, passed away at his home on September 7, 2021, after a long battle with cancer. He was born March 8, 1949, of Mary (Van Vreede) and Joseph Vanden Boogard in Appleton, WI. Jim was a loving husband and father and hero to his children. He was fun, spirited, and a wonderful family man. Jim spent the last 8 years with his significant other, Joan. They drove to Alaska and went many places together, which they both loved. He was a hard worker and one of the best engineers because he'd listen to his men, go down on the manufacturing floor, and see what problems they encountered, then go back to the drawing board and fix them with their input. He loved his dogs, hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. Jim grew up in Kimberly, WI, and graduated from Kimberly High School. He worked at Butch's Pizza until drafted into the Army artillery and served on the DMZ in Korea. Returning home, he worked at American Paper Mill for two years. He married Kathleen Scheunemann on August 12, 1972. (She preceded him in death on June 18, 2012.) He attended Fox Valley Tech for mechanical design and worked at Manitowoc Engineering where he earned engineer status. Next, he worked at Northwest Engineering, with a stint in Waverly, Iowa, when Northwest merged with several companies. He brought the family back to Green Bay to work at Cummins in De Pere, where he was the director of engineering and worked until retirement. He is survived by Joan Enders, his children - Mindy Vanden Boogard (Frank Feehrer) and Jake Vanden Boogard (Jessica Titus and Zach Kuskie), his granddaughter, Savanna Furcho, and his siblings: Trish (Al) Erickson, Judy (Dave) Delain, Mark (Sue) Vanden Boogard, Anne Westbrook, John "Rocky" (Mary) Vanden Boogard, Paul (Jim) Vanden Boogard, and Dan (DeeDee) Vanden Boogard, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Scheunemann, his mother and father-in-law, Alice and Hugo Scheunemann, and his parents, Mary, and Joe Vanden Boogard. Friends may call after 1:00PM on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at Ryan Funeral Home 305 N. Tenth Street, De Pere, with full military honors at 3:00PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, Multiple Myeloma Research.
