Jean Anne Marie VandeHei, 73, De Pere, died Wednesday, June 28, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was born July 3, 1942 in Green Bay, the daughter of the late Raymond and Gladys (Vannieuwenhoven) Van Rite.
Jean graduated from West De Pere High School. She served her country in the US Air Force and was honorably discharged. In January 1992 Jean graduated from UW-Green Bay with a double major in Human Development & Social Change and Development with a minor in Psychology. She worked at Washington Middle School and then the Family Violence Center where she was a facilitator to the Men's Alternative Program. She also helped with Christian Fellowship and in Prison Ministry.
Jean enjoyed camping, being in Door County and the Crivitz area, bowling where she was secretary for her league, and cross country skiing. She also was a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader and was a founder of the Footloose Singers Group.
Jean is survived by her four children: daughter Amy (Matt) Storm and their children: Ben and Hannah; son Brian (Mary Jo) VandeHei and their children: Ashley, Jamie (John) with Charlie Jo & Penny, and Cara; son Chad (Sherry) VandeHei and their daughter Morgan; a daughter Amanda (Derric Carter) VandeHei. She is further survived by her brothers Ken (Carol) Van Rite and John Van Rite; and nieces and nephews.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; brother Jim Van Rite, and nephew Adam Van Rite.
Family and friends may visit on Thursday, June 30, 2016 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at RYAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 305 N. Tenth St, De Pere. Funeral service will follow at 6:00 PM.
