Jennifer Lee (Gillespie) Leonard, 68, De Pere, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 26, 2023 from her battle with colon cancer. She was born October 27, 1954 to William and Betty (Heuse) Gillespie.

Jennifer was a graduate of WDPHS. While working she earned her Bachelor's degree from Lakeland College, a CFP designation and her Master's degree from the College for Financial Planning. Her career was in the industries of business, banking and insurance. When she retired from Humana, she became a substitute Teacher's Aide at the WDP schools. She was blessed with an excellent education and wanted others to have this opportunity.

She loved animals, especially her pets and the neighbors' dog, Jax. In spring she would sew rescue bags for the Wildlife Sanctuary's rehabilitation program.

Jenny's hobbies were exercise (played recreational volleyball for 30+ years where she made life-long friends), sewing, crafting and reading. You knew she loved you if you received a homemade gift from her.

She is survived by her husband, the love of her life: Nick Leonard, two brothers: Jerry (Sue) Gillespie and Jim (Sandi) Gillespie, children: Neal (Stacey) Leonard, Angela (Pete) Simpson, Sean (Kelly Vrisis) Leonard and grandson: Dylan (Jessica) Leonard, sister-in-law: Judy (Bob) Wickman and brother-in-law: Dan (Bev) Leonard plus other loving relatives and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents: William (a.k.a. Droop) and Betty Gillespie.

There will be a visitation and service at St. John Lutheran Church, 1700 Lost Dauphin Rd., De Pere on Monday, June 12, 2023. Visitation will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a service beginning at 6:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift will go to the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary.
